Ancient Chinese Secret:

Deep in the middle of central Washington there is this town called Cashmere. For those of you who haven't been to central Washington, you must go in the spring. This is when all of the hundreds of apple orchards are in bloom. It is beautiful! When I was little my parents would take us to the Apple Blossom Festival. There were parades and booth vendors and lots of fun activities, but the thing that I loved most was getting these:

They are one of my favorite treats... we mostly got them when we visited my aunt, who lived in Cashmere at the time, or around Christmas time.
On Friday night I got talking with another lady from our ward whose name is Ellie Shane. Come to find out, Ellie lived in Aloha, OR. her senior year in high school before they moved here to Idaho; She is quite familiar with different parts of Washington though. We spent some time talking about the Twilight movie (which takes place in NW Washington) and how beautiful those parts of Washington are, this is what lead to central Washington's beauty with the fruit tree orchards.... which lead to us talking about Aplets and Cotlets.
Another lady sitting with us, Linda, who wasn't familiar with these candy's asked what they were and I explained that they were one of my favorite treats. You can find them year round in Washington at your average WINCO or WALMART or ALBERTSONS or wherever, but here in Idaho they are mostly carried close to Christmas.
Well, Saturday morning.... when I was still bright eyed and bushy tailed.... at 2:00PM in the afternoon.... Ellie dropped by with a gift. My favorite, Aplets! It was so nice of her. They were delicious!
If you haven't tried them, you should, just to say you have-- and if you hate them, that's fine with me because then I will have more for myself. :)
This brightened my day. Thank you Ellie Shane for those yummy Aplets!

I do think it's really funny when people have never heard of these! But I have to remember that we live almost in the heart of where they're made, so OF COURSE we know about them. From my experience, you either LOVE them or HATE them. For me... love 'em. Who doesn't like sugar? Four major food groups: candy, candy canes, candy canes and syrup! ha ha ha ha ha!

Can't wait for you guys!

You mean candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup.

Yeah... I love them too, but it does seem that way. They are either love or hate. Tyler was a little wishy washy on the subject of really liking them until I told him that if he didn't like them he couldn't eat anymore. Now he claims they are good. :)
